Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love, taking their friends, family and luggage with them. With the exception of the scenes filmed in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including the scenes set in Essex. The house used as the Shipmans’ House (Gavin’s family) is Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile northwest of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In episode 3, both Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers from the previous episode. Gavin’s blue Sax has been changed from T-reg (MY 1999) to X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has been changed from CV02 (MY 2002, registered Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, registered Portsmouth). Obviously, they are different cars. I have to say I don’t really understand the previous reviewer as I think he’s on a different planet to everyone else and I felt compelled to clarify the post. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. It has an amazing cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Cordon. The show follows Gavin (a boy from Essex) and Stacey (a receptionist from Barry Island) who start their relationship over the phone while they’re at work. The series was so well received that a second series has already been ordered.
