The attacks on various guests and employees of a luxury resort over the course of a week. HBO has renewed the series for a second season, although the series was originally intended to be a limited one-season miniseries. The series is said to be an anthology series with new characters for each season. HBO has already done this (to widespread acclaim) with True Detective (2014). Featured in Jeremy Vine: Episode #4,175 (2021). While there was some teasing from the first season, this second season is as masterful as anyone could hope for. It starts off a little slow, the first episode, but it soon picks up and impresses and captivates me time and time again in a way I’ve never really experienced before. It feels like a review of every thought I’ve ever had about the resort, many of which I’ve long since forgotten. In that respect alone, it’s a pleasure, but don’t worry, it’s far from flirting with the operatic heights of drama and beauty, which is only fitting given its location in Sicily. Given the excellence of the acting and the seeming ease of the story, I have to say that Mike White, this series' god, is some kind of unsung genius. The guy seems oblivious to boundaries and one of the sharpest details I’ve ever seen.
