No doubt based on the 2011-2012 theft of $18 million worth of maple syrup from a storage facility in Quebec; five people were sentenced to prison
Scenario
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a scheme to get revenge and shake up the industry. I want to start by saying that I went into this show with medium to light expectations, so there were no major disappointments or real surprises.
I knew about the real maple heist, saw the preview, and thought it would be a fun watch
And it can be a fun watch if you have a low-quality Fargo rip-off by people who don’t understand any of the functional components of a Coen brother’s film. And I guess you could say that all the little elements they ripped from other films could be a tribute and a tip of the hat if they didn’t feel so awkwardly and inappropriately confident in their own uniqueness.
It’s someone else’s work being rehashed over and over again
There’s a certain smugness to the writing and direction that, frankly, isn’t earned. It’s the end of a game of telephone, and that phrase is almost unrecognizable.
Bad, homey, bad-a**, weird-bad-a**
The only real appeal of the show that kept me watching until the end was the cast. They give it 100%, even if the characters were the same archetypes that these actors seem to always play these days.

It seems like some of the cast can’t escape the type of actors that trapped them. I wish they had a better cast, even if they’re really great at what they do consistently.
